American Airlines to fly nonstop between Miami and Asuncion, Paraguay

MIAMI, Fla. – American Airlines today announced it will offer nonstop service between Miami International Airport (MIA) and Asuncion, Paraguay’s Silvio Pettirossi International Airport (ASU) four times per week beginning Nov. 15. The new service will be operated by a Boeing 757 aircraft.

“This is great news that we have been working on for 20 years – to start direct non-stop flights to the United States,” said Dr. Nicanor Cespedes Cespedes, President of the National Civil Aeronautics Directorare (DINAC, by its acronym in Spanish). “The new American Airlines nonstop flight from Asuncion to Miami will offer more options for local passengers and help strengthen Paraguay’s economy, including tourism to our country.”

“American is proud to be the only airline linking Paraguay and the United States with nonstop service,” said Virasb Vahidi, American’s Chief Commercial Officer. “Our customers now have even more destinations to choose from when traveling to Latin America.”

This June, American will offer nearly 800 weekly flights to more than 40 cities throughout Latin America, including Mexico, Central America and South America.
