ST GEORGE, UT – SkyWest, Inc today reported 183,039 block hours in July 2015, compared to 204,175 block hours in July 2014, a decrease of 21,136, or 10.4%. The net decrease was consistent with SkyWest’s fleet optimization plan to improve the mix of aircraft in its fleet by adding new dual-class aircraft to its fleet and reducing unprofitable aircraft.

The year-over-year net change included approximately 10,400 additional block hours from its additional 76-seat E175 aircraft and 30,000 fewer block hours from the reduction in the 50-seat jet (CRJ200s and ERJ135s/145s) and 30-seat turboprop (EMB-120) aircraft operating fleet.

In July 2015, SkyWest’s dual class aircraft (CRJ700s, CRJ900s and E175s) represented approximately 38% of SkyWest’s total block hour production for the month compared to approximately 30% for the month of July 2014.

SkyWest reported 1,231,186 block hours year-to-date through July 2015, compared to 1,330,058 block hours through July 2014, a decrease of 98,872, or 7.4%. This net change included approximately 56,700 additional block hours from SkyWest’s 76-seat E175 aircraft and 150,275 fewer block hours from the reduction in the 50-seat jet (CRJ200s and ERJ135s/145s) and 30-seat turboprop (EMB-120) aircraft in its operating fleet.
