Thailand Director-General of the Department of Health is urging travelers who have holidayed in Thailand to monitor their health for COVID.

While most governments around the world have lifted restrictions such as mask wearing and social distancing, mutations of the coronavirus continue to knock people down because they fall ill due to COVID.

The Thailand Director-General of the Department of Health, Dr. Suwannachai Wattanayingcharoenchai, is urging travelers who have holidayed in Thailand to monitor their health upon returning home and have their rapid antigen tests ready should they come down with COVID symptoms. As a reminder, the symptoms to be on the lookout for include coughing, a sore throat, and fever as well as a headache and muscle pain.

Take care at home

Should a person test positive but the symptoms are mild, it is recommended that being prepared with medicines that soothe such as aspirin and cough syrup be on hand within the home so that the person can stay home and isolate themselves to prevent the spread of the virus.

The Director-General also encouraged people to continue to use hand sanitizers and try to stay away from large groups or gatherings.

U Tajlandu, where there has been an increase in COVID-19 cases, the Ministry of Public Health offers online diagnoses and treatments via mobile applications to provide faster treatment for COVID-19 patients.

So far, most patients are demonstrating low-level symptoms of sore throat, coughing and fever and are able to care for themselves and isolate at home. The Ministry of Public Health is preparing for an increase in the number of new cases but says it will likely maintain its current COVID alert level because members of the public now have a better understanding of how to care for themselves.

Masking and social distancing remain the steady course for those out and about in public.
