The Corporate Communication Department of Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) provided clarification on the complaints about damages from the closing of the two city airports, Suvarnabhumi and Don Muang, at the end of Year 2008.

Mr. Niruj Maneepun, vice president, Legal and Compliance Department, revealed that during November 24 – December 3, 2008, a group of protestors seized the airports, resulting in ceasing the operations of the two airports. Consequently, THAI could not render services to all passengers for 10 days.

On December 3, 2008, the board of directors approved the company to take legal action against the People Alliance Democracy (PAD) and the involving parties, who caused damages to THAI.

On November 6, 2009, the board of directors agreed with the result of the previous board’s meeting to take an action in order to comply with concerned laws. In addition, the board of directors advised that the estimated amount to be claimed should be determined according to actual damages.

THAI submitted the complaints to the Civil Court. Adherent to the company’s good governance, THAI assures of the fair treatment to every party, including defendants. The legal action has to be taken; otherwise, the board of directors and concerned management could be subject to charges of wrongfully unexercising their function, required by state enterprise regulations.
