The United Nations World Tourism Organization today opened its regional conference in Petra Jordan under the patronage of His Excellency Dr Hani Mulki, Prime Minister of Jordan.
ovo UNWTO conference is organized in cooperation with the Jordan ministry of Tourism & Antiques and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
Opened by H.E. Tourism Minister Lina Annab, the first keynote speaker was Dr. Taleb Rifai, Secretary General of the UNWTO. Mr. Rifai was the minister of tourism for Jordan years ago and his footprint is visible in Jordan’s tourism infrastructure everywhere.
Mr . Taleb Rifai addressed the attending Royal Highness and head of the Petra Trust. He welcomed the high level audience attending and participating.
Mr. Rifai is seen as one of the most successful Secretary General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
He said home is beautiful. He explained how proud he is to be Jordanian.
2017 will be the year of sustainable tourism. It will be an opportunity for the largest industry covering 10% of the global workforce and 1.8 billion travelers to shine.
